The Strange Future of Lake America, For F**k’s Sake

My whiskers twitch where strange tides wake,
I dream of Lake America, For Fuck’s Sake.
The moon just purrs, “Don’t ask me why,”
For every ripple tells a different sky.

My whiskers have vibrated. My third eye has blinked. My cat has stared at a blank wall for fourteen minutes. The signs are undeniable.

I have seen the future of Lake America. For fuck’s sake.

The spirits insist that the lake will become the most argued-over body of water on Earth. Tourists will arrive carrying five different maps, each with a different name. Families will spend entire vacations debating geography instead of swimming.

I see fishermen catching bass that refuse to identify which side of the border they came from. The fish simply shrug and splash back into the water.

On the third Tuesday after the Harvest Moon, a giant rubber duck approximately the size of a small office building will mysteriously appear in the center of the lake. Nobody will admit to placing it there. Every government agency will deny responsibility. The duck will become the highest-rated tourist attraction within forty-eight hours.

A flock of Canadian geese will organize a press conference. It will accomplish nothing, but the geese will be extremely confident.

My crystal litter box reveals that souvenir vendors will become the true winners of this saga. They will sell shirts reading:

“I Went to Lake America, For Fuck’s Sake.”

These shirts will outsell every other souvenir by a factor of seven.

I also foresee weather forecasters accidentally calling it four different names during a single broadcast. They will apologize, then immediately do it again.

The moon itself seems mildly confused.

In the year ahead, social media will discover that arguing about maps generates approximately 98% more engagement than discussing actual lakes. Millions will confidently explain cartography despite never having unfolded a paper map in their lives.

My final vision is the strangest of all.

The lake does not care.

It continues producing waves. Fish continue swimming. Seagulls continue stealing sandwiches with complete disregard for human politics. The water remains beautifully indifferent while humanity argues on shore.

This, dear readers, is the greatest lesson the universe has offered me.

Sometimes the lake is just a lake.

For fuck’s sake.
